A father said to his son. “You've just graduated from High School son and I want you to have the Jeep I brought home after serving in the war. It is pretty old now but before I give you the title I want you to drive it to a used car lot. Tell them I want to sell it and ask how much they'll offer.”

The son drove the Jeep to a used car lot. He returned home and said to his father, "Dad they only offered me $500."

The father replied, “Okay, now drive the Jeep over to that drive-in burger joint where the folks in the car club hang out. Find a guy with a shiny old classic car and tell him I want to sell the Jeep and ask him what he'd pay for it.”

When the son returned home he told his father, “Wow dad. A couple of car club guys both offerred me $30,000 on the spot because this old Jeep is a valuable collector's item.”

Amused the father explained, “Son, the right place and the right people will always respect and value you.

If you are not valued, do not be discouraged, it only means you are in the wrong place around the wrong people.

Those who respect value are those who will appreciate you and pay you well for your talents and skills as they know it will only help make them better themselves and that son is the only reason they'll be buying from you. The others will try to buy from you at your expense.

Son, as you drive that Jeep down the many roads your life may take you  never stay anywhere or do any business with anybody that does not respect your value and pay what you are worth.”
